Ever Wonder Who......

Who are those Farmers that sell us the products at the Gettysburg Farmers' Market?

Well in this new series we will meet the farmers you see and
talk too every Saturday morning on the Square.

We will start our visits with  Keven Anschuetz, our market President,
as he introduces us to his farm and animals.

Tucked comfortably back in the woods, down the lane, is the Anschuetz Family Farm.

You know that you are at the farm by the wonder animal sounds of the Anschuetz pet goats. Besides the goats you will see 5 sheep, 14 pigs and 4 steer. We join Kevan as he is doing  his chores.

14 pigs live at the Anschuetz Farm. They come as Kevan calls them.
The pigs in the video weigh anywhere from 40 -130 pounds.
Once they reach 250 pounds he will take them to the butcher.

Pigs will route in the field. They are pretty hard on a pasture.
Kevan will plow and reseed regularly so
the pigs always have fresh natural grass to eat.
These pigs only eat free range, grass, grain and bugs.
They must have a water hole for good health.

Keven is proud of his friendly young steer.

The Anschuetz Family Farm was established in 2009. Their farm serves conscientious consumer by providing pork and beef meat products that come from animals fed an all natural diet. The diet is free from hormones and antibiotics. These animals graze peacefully on the farm which is located south of Gettysburg in Adams County, PA. Besides being on the Square every Saturday morning between 7AM and 12 Noon, May - Sept. You can  find these fine meat products at the Hauser Estate Winery tasting room located in the 17 on the Square, building. Be sure you stop by Anschuetz Farm vendor's booth to tell Kevan, "Hi" and buy some of his pork, order some beef.
And of course visit all the other Farmers at the Gettysburg Farmers' Market. You'll be glad you did.
See you at the Market!
